Product Description

316L is the molybdenum bearing stainless steel chosen for chloride rich and marine environments. The addition of two to three percent molybdenum raises the pitting resistance equivalent number above 25, so the plate resists pitting and crevice corrosion far better than standard 304 in seawater, salt spray and chloride process streams.

Its low carbon content of 0.030 percent maximum also prevents carbide precipitation during welding, keeping the heat affected zone corrosion resistant without post weld annealing.
