316L Marine Grade Stainless Steel Plate 1mm-50mm Molybdenum Corrosion Resistant

316L is the molybdenum bearing stainless steel chosen for chloride rich and marine environments. The addition of two to three percent molybdenum raises the pitting resistance equivalent number above 25, so the plate resists pitting and crevice corrosion far better than standard 304 in seawater, salt spray and chloride process streams.

Its low carbon content of 0.030 percent maximum also prevents carbide precipitation during welding, keeping the heat affected zone corrosion resistant without post weld annealing. Marine grade 316L plate is used for ship fittings, offshore structures, seawater piping, heat exchangers and coastal architectural work where salt exposure would quickly corrode ordinary steel. Its resistance to chloride pitting keeps components serviceable for years in demanding coastal conditions.

The grade also serves chemical processing vessels, pharmaceutical equipment, food and beverage plant and medical hardware, where both corrosion resistance and cleanability are essential. Buyers choose 316L whenever a project must survive chlorides, acids or repeated washdown.

Every lot is checked for chemical composition, thickness and surface condition, and a mill test certificate to EN 10204 3.1 is issued. HYX can arrange SGS or BV inspection and offers PMI testing to confirm the molybdenum content on request.

Plates are protected with PVC film, strapped with steel bands and wrapped in waterproof paper for container shipment. Export packing guards the surface from scratches and moisture during ocean transit and can be tailored to the customer handling and storage needs.
