SAE1020 / 20# Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Sheet — Deep Drawing Automotive Grade

Our SAE1020 (20#) cold rolled carbon steel sheet is a low-carbon (0.18-0.23% C) steel with exceptional cold formability and deep drawing characteristics, making it the ideal choice for automotive stamping, drawn cups, brackets, chassis components, and complex formed parts. Annealed and skin passed to consistent mechanical properties (HRB 55-70), it provides both the ductility needed for aggressive forming and the strength required for service loading. We are a certified supplier to Southeast Asian Tier-2 automotive stampers, Indian OEM parts manufacturers, and South American automotive component producers.

Key Features

Excellent Deep Drawability: Low carbon content and fully annealed microstructure provide superior elongation (≥25%) for deep drawing without intermediate annealing
Uniform Mechanical Properties: Skin passed after annealing ensures consistent hardness (HRB 55-70) and yield behavior across every sheet — critical for progressive die stamping lines
Good Surface Quality: Cold rolled and skin passed finish is free from scale, pits, and roller marks, suitable for painted or coated finished components
Case Hardenable: After forming, components can be carburized and hardened for wear-resistant surfaces (e.g., gears, shafts, pins) while maintaining a tough core
Weldable: Low carbon equivalent allows trouble-free spot welding (automotive assembly) and MIG/TIG fabrication without preheating
