ASTM A312 TP316L marine grade stainless steel seamless pipe is a molybdenum bearing austenitic grade engineered for chloride rich and severely corrosive environments. The addition of 2 to 3 percent molybdenum raises the pitting resistance equivalent number to about 25, giving the pipe markedly better resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride stress corrosion cracking than standard 304 material. This makes TP316L the default specification for seawater piping, offshore platforms, shipbuilding and coastal infrastructure where salt laden air and water attack ordinary stainless steels.
The low carbon content of TP316L, capped at 0.035 percent, minimises chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, so the pipe keeps its corrosion resistance even after welding without the need for post weld annealing. Pipes are produced by cold drawing or cold rolling to a dense, seamless wall and finished by pickling or bright annealing for a clean, passive surface. Full traceability is provided through EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates, and pipes can be supplied in compliance with NACE MR0175 for sour service on request.

TP316L seamless pipe is the standard choice for marine and offshore piping, seawater cooling systems, desalination plants, chemical process lines handling chlorides and organic acids, pharmaceutical and food grade fluid transfer, and architectural structures in coastal locations. It is widely used for heat exchanger tubing, instrumentation lines, hydraulic systems and pulp and paper process piping. Wherever chlorides would pit or crack a 304 grade, TP316L provides a durable, weldable and easily maintained alternative that extends service intervals and reduces total cost of ownership.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceEach pipe is protected by end caps and plastic wrapping, then bundled with steel straps and secured onto wooden pallets or in seaworthy crates for container shipment. Bundle labels record grade, heat number, dimension and quantity to support full material traceability from mill to site. We supply mill test certificates, third party inspection reports and pre-shipment photographs, and our ISO 9001 and CE certified production process ensures consistent quality on every order. Cutting, bevelling, threading and surface treatment are available on request.
